These Easy Country Brownies are a family recipe for the best classic brownies that are super easy to make. Grandma’s best brownies!
This recipe came from a collection of recipes from my sister-in-law. This was her mom (Barbara’s) favorite brownie recipe. These are brownies that are super easy to make, even for the person who doesn’t really bake. It’s a good one for kids to make as a beginning baker. The texture of these brownies are more cakey than fudgy.
🛒 Ingredients Needed:
- granulated white sugar
- salted butter
- large eggs
- all purpose flour
- canned chocolate syrup
- nuts, optional
✏️ How to make Easy Country Brownies:
*The complete, printable recipe is in the recipe card at the end of this post.
-
Preheat your oven to 350℉. Spray a 9×12-inch pan with nonstick spray. Use a 9×9-inch pan for thicker brownies (will have to bake a bit longer).
-
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs. And then beat in the flour and chocolate syrup until well-combined. Stir in the nuts (if using).
-
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, and bake for 30 minutes (or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan). Let cool before cutting.
➡️ Tips and Substitutions:
- Hershey’s makes the canned chocolate syrup that you need. I wouldn’t substitute hot fudge or anything like that.
- If you want thicker brownies, use a 9×9-inch pan instead.
- Bake for a shorter amount of time, if you want these brownies to be a bit more fudgy.
- Any type of chopped nuts can be added, or you can leave the nuts out entirely.
❤️ Why I Love This Recipe:
- I love a simple, 5-ingredient recipe (I prefer my brownies without nuts).
- If I want a more decadent brownie out of this recipe, it’s easy to add a frosting or glaze.
- These brownies cut nice and clean. I love that they look so perfect.

I couldn't find any canned Hershey syrup either. I found a recipe for making homemade chocolate syrup and will give that a try.

well, you need 16 ounces, so you can use the large container that they sell now and just measure.

I have not seen those cans of Hershey syrup and forever. They are not in my grocery stores. Is it possible to use the squirt bottle of Hershey syrup in this recipe and measure out 16 ounces of it?
