This recipe for M&M’s Granola Bars delivers a delicious baked snack that is so much better than store bought granola bars.
M&M’s Granola Bars
These are granola bars, so they have ingredients in them that are a bit healthier than a dessert bar. But let’s face it: they are just as good as dessert bars! Wrap them up and pop them into your kiddo’s lunch. They’ll be so happy!
🛒 Ingredients Needed:
- rolled oats
- miniature M&M’s
- all purpose flour
- flax seed meal
- packed brown sugar
- salt
- egg
- honey
- vegetable or canola oil
- vanilla extract
✏️ How to make M&M’s Granola Bars:
*The complete, printable recipe with all ingredients and instructions is at the end of this post.
- Preheat the oven to 350℉
- In a large bowl, stir together the oats, M&M’s flour, flax seed meal, brown sugar and salt. Make a well in the middle of the mixture.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg until light and fluffy. Add the honey, oil and vanilla; whisk until well-combined. Pour the egg mixture into the well in the oat mixture. Stir until evenly combined. Pour the mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish; pat down and spread the mixture flat, leaving at least 1-inch of space between the mixture and the sides of the dish.
- Bake for about 25 minutes, until golden and set.
➡️ Tips and Substitutions:
- Cut these granola bars into whatever shape you’d like- squares or rectangles!
- Substitute the M&M’s with Reeses Pieces or chocolate chips!
- If you don’t like to use vegetable/canola oil, it’s okay to use coconut oil instead.
✔️ Storage Tips:
Once you slice the bars, cover the pan and store it in the fridge, or transfer the bars to an airtight container. I recommend storing them with a sheet of parchment paper between layers so that the bars don’t stick together. They’ll keep for up to a week in the fridge, but you can also freeze them for up to 2 months. For freezing, I find it best if you wrap each granola bar individually with plastic wrap and then drop them all into a large freezer zip baggie.
