These Football Cake Pops are easy to make, and they are so impressive and delicious for a football themed party like Super Bowl!
It’s so fun to create some goodies for Game Day, whether it’s Super Bowl, football playoffs or for a school football team! There are plenty of recipes for dips and poppers and wings… but the football-themed treats are the absolute best. Plus, everyone loves cake pops!
🛒 Ingredients Needed:
- chocolate cake
- chocolate frosting
- white craft sticks
- milk chocolate disks
- white chocolate disks
- piping bag with a fine tip
✏️ How to make Football Cake Pops:
*The complete, printable recipe is in the recipe card at the end of this post.
-
In a large bowl, combine the crumbled cake with the frosting. Shape into 2-inch footballs using damp hands (add more frosting if the mixture is too dry). Insert a stick into each. Put the football pops on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until firm (about 30 minutes); then reshape to smooth out any imperfections.
-
Heat the milk chocolate disks in the microwave until melted. Dip the chilled footballs in the melted milk chocolate. Return to the baking sheet, and refrigerate until set, about 15 minutes.
-
Heat the white chocolate disks in the microwave until melted. Draw laces and stripes on the chocolate to make them look like footballs. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
➡️ Tips and Substitutions:
- Since these football cake pops are dipped in chocolate, it’s okay to use any flavor of cake (not just chocolate).
- Here is a link to buying a pastry bag and some tips. And here is a link to buy the sticks. Those things and the chocolate disks (candy melts) can all be found at a craft store like Michaels.
- Look at a craft store in the scrapbook section to find graphic paper (as pictured) of a football field for decor on your food display table (or as a liner for your platter).
✔️ How to Store Cake Pops:
Keep your football cake pops refrigerated until ready to display for serving. Don’t keep them stored in the freezer or the chocolate might crack.
